“Mallarme Never Descended to the Underworld” 2015. Video, 2m / loop.

The historical framework for this installation, is the Western Round Table on Modern Art, that took place in San Francisco in 1949, in which Duchamp introduced the concept of “the aesthetic echo”. The text that appears in the video is the transcription of part of a letter written by Duchamp to Douglas McAgy, one of the organisers of the event. The letter makes reference to a dispute between Duchamp and Frank Lloyd Wright, during the third session ( 8 April 1949 ) of the Western Round Table on Modern Art.

This series of graphite drawings, depict some of the paintings that were discussed in the Western Round Table on Modern Art, and which were shown in an exhibition that took place, simultaniously, at the San Francisco Art Institute. In each drawing, the composite image is created by combining three or more paintings in the same drawing.

In each of the thirty six pages of the book, it’s printed the title of each of the paintings that were discussed in the round table, and, which were part of an exhibition that took place, at the same time, in the San Francisco Art Institute.
